Light to medium duty performer

Review Summary

The Rockler clamps are great for light to medium duty clamping. Don't expect to be able to bring together big/nasty glueups with this clamp. The U-shaped aluminum backbone has a great deal of bend and give and isn't as ridgid as is required for heavy duties. It is nice to be able to remove the tail and spin it around for spreading duties, however.
And with the extra-cost linking ties, you can join two smaller clamps to create up to an eight foot clamping span. It's worth the price of admission for a lot of jobs in the shop. Just be aware that it's not the most robust clamp on the block.

These are great because of the light weight

Review Summary

I agree with the first review -- these clamps can bow if you overtighten them. But I've got several and use them regularly, and I've had great luck with them. I use them mostly for gluing up panels or cabinet doors. They'll work on big case pieces if you've cut your joinery correctly. What I like best about them is their light weight. It's nice to be able to lift a glue-up off my bench and set it out of the way to dry.
That's a lot tougher with steel bar clamps or pipe clamps. So I say get some 24 and 48 inch clamps, 4 of each, and see how much you like them.
