Trying to hold a just-glued bracket in place while drilling pilot holes and driving screws could be a mightily frustrating task. Save yourself the trouble by gluing and clamping the brackets to the mating workpiece, and then letting the glue dry before drilling the holes and driving the screws, as shown. Leave the clamps on while you drill and drive the screws.
