Drilling true

Using a long bit to drill true can be a tricky proposition. Minimize error by using a guide as you drill. Cut the guide from a length of scrap like the one shown at left. By keeping the bit parallel to both the face and bottom edge of the guide, you'll drill straight and true.—from the WOOD® shop
