Instead of wrestling with large boards on a small drill-press table, use this simple bit-alignment jig, made from 34 " MDF scrap, when drilling holes in the boards (for example, holes for making rounded handle corners, as shown). To make the jig, cut two 112 "-wide pieces with squared ends: one 212 " long and one 5" long. Glue them together with one end flush. To drill a perfectly perpendicular hole, first align the jig with two adjacent layout lines, then nestle the bit in the corner of the jig.
