Self-Cleaning Blast Gates

No-clog blast gates improve airflow

Debris can build up in the grooves of typical blast gates, preventing them from closing fully, so they leak air and ultimately reduce suction where you need it. Lee Valley's self-cleaning gates extend through the bracket to push debris out of the groove and prevent such buildup.

I've been using this type of blast gate for years and they work great. Have never had them jam of clog. The Blast Gate Co. has the best price on these in the USA.

Try a small-size coffee can. I found that taking off tops & bottoms yields a cylinder just the right size to fit outside the gate, but inside the 4" hose. I attached mine to the metal with a small (1/8"-diameter) "pop" rivet or two.

These are good, but the 4" hose does not attach properly, keeps falling off. Not enough flange to adhere to. What's the solution?
