SKIN SAVER

The SawStop blade brake could some day be considered the "tablesaw airbag," and the comparison is valid. When this safety device detects skin touching a spinning tablesaw blade, it automatically slams on the brakes, cutting power to the motor and halting the blade within a few microseconds. You can learn all about SawStop in the March 2001 issue of WOOD magazine.

If you'd like to see SawStop in action you can view our tests of the blade-braking mechanism in a free video.
