Tool review: Deluxe 14-inch Bandsaws

Choosing to purchase a deluxe 14" bandsaw says a lot about where you are in your woodworking journey. You're ready to move to a machine capable of tackling all curve-cutting, ripping, crosscutting, and resawing tasks in even the thickest and hardest wood species. This class of 14" bandsaws does it all.

Ranging from $770 to $1,495, these saws give you greater power and resaw capability than entry-level models.

Faster and cleaner-cutting than a dado set, these accessories make tight-fitting tenons in no time.

These replacement guides, ranging in price from $16 to $150, deliver increased accuracy. Better still, they fit any 14" bandsaw, as well as many other models.

We tested 8 models priced at $550 or less, and found several that stood out.

For accurate ripping and resawing, a good fence helps greatly. The three fences we recommend here fit virtually any 14" bandsaw and some 12" models.

If you need more power or resaw capacity than your 14" bandsaw can provide, it's time to take your woodworking to the next level.

If cleaning your saw blades and router bits sits near the bottom of your "to-do" list, you may be shortening the life of your carbide cutters. We tested eight products and several home remedies to see which work fastest and safest.

Why buy? Good dust management begins at the tool, which is why we like a tool-triggered vacuum that turns on and off automatically with the tool plugged into it.
