Losing glue-bottle caps? Tie one on

Losing glue-bottle caps? Tie one on

Do you sometimes lose the small caps to your glue bottles? Try attaching them to the bottle with a short length of fishing line. Drill a hole in the top of the cap and run one end of the fishing line through the hole. Tie this end in a knot. Tie the other end of the fishing line around the neck of the bottle with a square knot and you'll never lose the cap again.

I found some red silicone sealant caps that, truth be told, resemble very small condoms. Made of much thicker material, they roll out over the top of the glue bottle, thus sealing it far tighter than the original cap, especially if there is any glue residue on the tip. That's because they are flexible and will conform to irregularities on the surface. They reject glue residue themselves and, so far, I've never worn one out.

To keep the cap from flopping into the glue when you're using it, it might be worth also adding a rubber band around the bottle neck to hold some of the fishing line slack to make it too short to reach the work.
