Being a club member alreadyu I do not see why you want me to get another yes\ars subscription when I try to copy a pattern on my printer. I think that this is the wrong way to treat a subscriber. I truely like the WOOD Magazine as well as being a member, but this is rediculous. It is starting to make my temper to rise. Sincere Member Willis J Russell

I use a lot of masking tape and thought about making a dispenser for it. It has a 3" core so many of the common dispenssers didn't work. I found one for about $8 on Amazon and it works great. I put it on with another order and got free shipping. Heavy weighted base holds it still. I decided to buy rather than spend a couple of hours making a dispenser, particularly if I had to go buy parts.

I think this would be a good addition for under the workbench, as noted previously. As for cutting yourself with a hacksaw blade? I suppose it can happen...

I used a discarded wooden towel holder. Sanded the dowel a little on the end to facilitate being able to place the rolls of tape on to it. Jack knife always works for cutting of a piece of tape. Holder is mounted under the bench using the existing holes in the end pieces.

I use A wire rack that my wife discarded from the kitchen. That way I can take the roll of tape to the job instead of having to go to the tape every time I want A piece, then take it to job. I have not used A tape yet that I could not tear with my fingers.

I use empty CD/DVD round plastic boxes to store different types and sizes of tape. Makes it easy to spot the tape you need and keeps the tape degradation to humidity to a minimum (especially useful here in FL).

I made this dispenser but added a second tape bar and cutter. I made by own cutter out of a steel bar. It allow me to keep ALL the different kinds of tape I use in one place. No more looking around to find the tape I need.

I made one also. Mind fits between studings so I cut a groove for the roll and it also takes uo less space. I also placed the saw blade higher on the box so it puts more ressure on the tape.

I've been using a similar dispenser I made about 27 years ago when I started repairing golf clubs. I turned wooden plugs for each side of the tape rolls with a collar and 3/8" hole in the center. The collars and a few washers keep the rolls separated. My blade lays flat on top of the front board. I like the caps. I just use a few wraps of tape on each end of mine. It is mounted under the bench top.

Turn the the blade down,making the blade a gate that swings up & down, that can lock in place over the tape, will also make a great improvement and keep you from cutting yourself.Simply make a slot between the blade and board for the tape to slide through and the blade to rise up left to right. I worked as a meat wrapper and we had a tiered shelf simalar to this for all our lables. But, they were constantly getting tangled, there was nothing to hold them in place as they were being dispensed.

Your Tape dispenser is great. My thought would be to, put a wire retainer so the tape is always at the top of your board for the next piece. Then raise the saw off the board, with a thin washer just enough to slip the tape under the blade. With the wire on top of the board and the blade with saw edge pointed down, should be no danger of cutting yourself.

good Idea but to keep the rolls seperated I use the the hard plastic Packages I get when I buy things as deviders to keep the from sticking togeather that way I can put different size rolls close togeather

I don't know about your shop, but I have several types of tape and the size of the hole in the middle varies from masking tape to electrical tape....not all ths same as depicted in the plan

It looks alot like an auto body painting tape dispencer to me.

Great idea, but if you place the blade at the bottom edge of the support it will be easier to cut the tape and the tape will be ready to grab when you need it. Better still, mount the blade horizontally, teeth outward, on the top edge of the support. That would make it easier to tear off a strip of tape and the side of blade would hold the tape in place, ready for the next time you need it.

Mount the blade as high as you suggest will also make it much easier to cut yourself.

I would put the hacksaw blade higher than any of the rolls of tape. IMHO that would make it easier to tear the tape
