Organize hardware with coffee cans
Because shop space is nearly always limited and there are so many different types and sizes of nails and screws, the space-saving, low-cost hardware organizer, shown below, has been a real advantage in my shop. It lets me see at a glance what's in each can.
My unit uses 26-oz. coffee cans, but the idea can be adapted to other sizes. The frame provides space behind the unit so blown sawdust and dropped hardware end up on the floor where they can be picked up easily. You can leave the can lids on or off, depending on how much sawdust sprays near the organizer and how fast you need to access the cans' contents.

I liked this idea but didn't have that much room in my garage/shop/storeroom so by lessenning the angle and using left over 3/4 plywood I made one that has cans on both sides. It is only 22 inches wide 27 inches high with wheels underneath and 36 inches long. This way it rolls under my existing work table. I also put a short top on it so when I roll it our i have somewhere to put the cans. It holds 30 26oz cans easily
