The best feature about DeWalt's Li-Ion batteries is they will work with all 38 of the existing cordless tools in their 18-volt lineup. So that means if you own 18-volt DeWalt tools that were produced since 1996 you can simply buy a Li-Ion battery and charger, and then use it in your tools. You can also charge NiCd and NiMH batteries in this same charger -- from 7.2 volts to 18 volts. However you cannot charge Li-Ion batteries in older chargers.
