New features in versatile beadLOCK Pro loose-tenon tool

The biggest news with beadLOCK is the new beadLOCK Pro version of this loose-tenon tool.

The beadLOCK Pro features the same premise -- a guide for drilling overlapping holes in stock for mating premade tenons -- but adds a clamping body with up to 3 1/2" width capacity. This allows you to use it more accurately and on wider stock with no need for clamps.

The Pro unit features six holes in the standard 3/8" guide block (the original unit has three), and also has a mortise-paring block that helps guide you in squaring up mortises with a chisel. The $120 kit comes with everything needed for 3/8" mortises: jig, guide block, drill bit, stop collar, and paring guide block.

Tenon stock is sold separately (three 12"-long pieces for $5; or 20 2"-long pieces for $6). Also available are kits for 1/4" and 1/2" mortises ($40 each); tenon stock is available in 12" and short lengths.

The standard beadLOCK jig is now sold as a kit for 3/8" mortises. For $30 you get the jig, guide block, drill bit, and six shims. Kits are also available for 1/4" ($15) and 1/2" ($20). Tenon stock is sold as mentioned with the Pro unit. Storage cases come with all units.
