This is an original design by your instructor and owner, Dale Barnard. This coffee table is inspired by the Robinson House Dining Table, a Greene & Greene masterpiece. This small coffee table has many of the same challenges of its larger "father". The border that sits proud of the veneered top is a unique joinery problem that is solved in the class with pattern routing and special bits. We will use African mahogany and genuine ebony for the wood in the table, sticking true to G & G's later furniture. And working with 12/4 on the base incorporates a double mortise & tenon joint and through tenons on the "legs". Design details of the finer points of various radius shaping are also taught. Learn the difference between "sort-of" Greene & Greene and the real thing, how to stay true to the design.
