Detail view. An excellent introduction to chairs because a curved crest rail which is an essential element in all chairs. It is a band sawn curve and we use several techniques to fair out the curve. The seat is trapezoidal which utilizes compound angle tenons. Every joint is mortise & tenon. There are no fasteners. We also do a through-tenon on the arms. A special joint in Arts & Crafts that any accomplished woodworker should know how to do. There is also pattern routing, shaping that is an efficient system for making duplicate parts. After completing this chair, there are few chairs that you couldn't build using these techniques. The cane seat will be available for purchase at the Shop.
