Matt sought out a shed kit that combined size and economy. "Even then, I knew I would be constrained," he says. Kits with 2x4 framing appealed to Matt. "You can cut scrap 2x4s and create shelves," he says. He also wanted a sturdy shelf to keep his lathe workstation stable. "When you're turning," Matt explains, "there's a lot of vibration, so a rock-solid support is essential."

matt did a excellant job in laying this out it makes me realize how much space iam wasting in my 14x24 w/9ft celling good job matt

My Ridgid table saw is mobile (down the ramp, out in the dirt) and I use my Ryobi sliding compound the most, so it's the only tool that's fixed right now. I expect to reconfigure soon as I now have the table saw, Ryobi router table and sliding compound miter. Benchtop and shelving is all leftover plywood with 2x4 45 degree reinforcements. It's all screwed, so as I learn, I can change easily. I love wood.
