Realistically carved images in rich, vibrant colors

Amber Jean has received national notoriety for her beautifully crafted wooden sculptures and functional art furniture. Her work has been featured in several magazines and many books. Amber Jean's images are realistically carved in deep relief. She mixes her own stains and layers them to achieve the translucent rich color characteristic of many of her carvings. Her use of color and her ability to incorporate various materials into her carvings set her woodworking apart as especially unique. Home is a cozy cabin at the end of a road near the top of a mountain in Paradise Valley, Montana. I live a "storied" life not unlike a quirky, comic imaginative movie.

Sharing her success story Amber Jean has been in various TV, radio, and print appearances. She continues to find solace and inspiration by living in the woods, and travels widely to meet with clients about commissioned works. She slips in outdoor adventures between business trips and working in her studio.

Her pieces *are* emotionally moving to me. I sometime see the discussion on sites about the differences between, artisan, craftsman, etc. This woman make the difference quite clear. An artist draws a unique emotional response from each individual in his or her audience. You can be a craftsman and not be an artist, and vice versa. Amber combines the two into a tour de force.

Her insight and ablility to see the image so clearly in her mind, is truely, astounding. It looks as though she has a very beautiful heart and it comes out in her work.:)

Have attended the Western Design Conference and greatly admire all work shown there...but Amber's work stands alone. This is the level I sought but, at age 73, have never attained. Would really like to know more about her staining and finishing techniques.

I agree with dfilkins. You should look up notoriety on www.dictionary.com. The synonyms for notoriety are disrepute, ill-repute, shame, infamy. I'm sure that is not what you meant.
