I guess that I’m showing my age here but this is the line that Jackie Gleason would use to begin his weekly show. My weekly show begins on October 22nd in Mesquite, Texas. Located east of Dallas, this is where The Woodworking Shows will kick off the 2010-2011 season. This, the first of 21 shows, will introduce a couple of new educational venues in addition to the ones you’ve come to expect.
I will be in the WOOD Magazine booth with a new seminar. If you’ve wanted to learn how a router can add a new dimension to your shop skills, stop in for my version of “router immersion”. I’ll show you how to choose and use this very versatile tool. You’ll see a couple of cool projects too! I think that I’ve packed a lot of very useful information into the three seminars.
Roland Johnson is back and will teach finishing techniques and Graham Blackburn will talk about furniture building. Pen turning returns at the Craft Supply booth and Jeff Ziegmann will be teaching cabinet making.
New this season is a seminar on bandsaws with Alex Snodgrass and, if you’d like to see some great techniques on Inlays, you’ll want to see Richard Wedler in his seminar debut.
Peachtree and Woodline are sure to have some new tools and jigs this year. It also looks like we will be seeing more of the big tool companies on display.
My personal favorite, the Show Off Showcase, returns and we’re ready with some great prizes for those who bring their projects. We had some really nice submissions last year and I know that there are more out there.
You can check out all the happenings at http://cms.thewoodworkingshows.com/cms/ as well as the listing of upcoming venues. You’ll see we go from Texas to both Costa Mesa in southern California and then north to Sacramento in the following weeks. We have all spent a great deal of the summer planning for an even better show season. You’ll like the new look. Come out and see what we’ve been up to.
‘til then, I’ll see you on the road.
