This weekend was gorgeous! I should have been out on the bike exploring backroads, and searching for great pie shops, but with $4 gas and a shop in the condition mine is in, it wasn’t hard to spend time working on my cabinet.
I got a lot done. A third old cabinet was sold, my daughter unloaded some of her old toys that were taking up room (thank goodness for Craigslist. I’m not affiliated, but certainly a satisfied user!) and that made it easier to move around the shop/garage. Here’s the cabinet with drawers installed:
The drawers slide on wooden runners. I thought about metal slides, but the cost of eight sets of those vs. maple from the scrap bin made the decision easier. With a good coat of wax, the runners work very well. Next was making the drawer fronts. Here they are installed:
Next came pulls. Here’s one ready to be cut from the blank. They’re much less blurry in person.
I also got the doors made (no photo yet), but forgot to include them when I was counting up how many pulls to make. So I’ll have duplicate all my router table setups to make two more pulls. When that’s done, I’ll prime and paint (white like the walls and ceiling), get it in position, then start filling the drawers so I can move on to actually reorganizing the remainder of the space.
